I’d heard about this but seeing the press release pretty much makes it official: serato is now allowed for use in DMC battles. Outside of my personal objections to this, I believe this is a major bullet point for digital DJing to be the absolute standard now. Â It also means serato is getting even closer to being THE standard for DJing these days.
But what does this mean for battling overall? Â Will the use of new digital formats lower the bar for skill level on display at battles? Â I wonder how this makes past champions feel (not like they aren’t all using digital systems now anyway)? Â How will DMC/Rane prevent cheating (will someone be monitoring the computer screens)?
